Thought Leadership

Digital Health Festival — Melbourne, May 2026

Putting MedTalk on the National Stage

How FAZ Australia shaped the AI-in-healthcare governance conversation at Australia's largest digital health event — and what it generated in return.

The Challenge

Through 2025–26, AI clinical documentation was moving fast and scrutiny was rising. Clinicians, legal teams, and health leaders were all asking who is accountable when an AI scribe errs, and what responsible deployment at scale actually looks like.

MedTalk already had answers via the ACT Health pilot — the challenge was getting heard in the right rooms as the industry formed its opinions.

What We Did

FAZ Australia took part in Digital Health Festival 2026 at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, 20–21 May, both as exhibitor and featured speaker. Atif Nisar (CEO/Founder) joined an executive panel titled "AI scribes are writing the clinical record: are we ready, or are we lost in translation?"

The discussion covered clinical accountability, medico-legal risk, equitable AI deployment, and the governance frameworks needed before going live with AI scribes. Alongside the panel, MedTalk exhibited on the floor with live demos for clinicians and health system decision-makers over the two-day event.

  • Dr Owen Bradfield — Chief Medical Officer, MIPS
  • Aurélie Sheehan — Certification Policy & Development, NAATI (Chair)
  • Chelsea Gordon — Senior Associate, MinterEllison

What This Demonstrates

2,000+Healthcare professionals reached across the two-day event
4Senior co-panellists from legal, medical indemnity, and language services sectors

Beyond the numbers, DHF26 established MedTalk's founder as a credible voice on AI governance in healthcare — a practitioner defending a position, not a vendor pitching a product. It reinforced MedTalk's differentiation: governance-first, built for the Australian regulatory environment, and backed by a live ACT Health deployment.
